Problem: Most Adverse Events (AE) and Serious Adverse Events (SAE) are buried within the free text in the HPI section of the clinical note used as the original source of information for completing a CRF. The process of transferring AE’s and SAE’s to a CRF is very costly and time-consuming.
Solution: L&C’s technology automatically indexes the medical free text to MedDRA to make it “machine readable.” Once this stage is completed, the relevant data is automatically extracted from the free text and populates the CRF, dramatically speeding up the AERS reporting process for FDA compliance.
Text Mining
Problem: Pharmaceutical company researchers spend too much time searching for the most relevant information they need to perform their core task – research.
Solution: L&C’s NLP middleware technology automates the document indexing process while considering semantic information (i.e. the meaning of the text). Instead of creating indexes containing search terms, it creates indexes containing concepts, individual units of meaning that are independent of language and can connect to a variety of languages.
